Where is the Portoalegre Hotel located?

The hotel is located in the Punta de Piedra area on the beaches of the first cove in Coveñas (Sucre), Colombia. Here you can view our location in 360 degrees

How far is the hotel from the airport?

There are two airports near the hotel, both of which are accessible by road

  • We are a 2-hour drive from Los Garzones Airport (Montería).
  • We are a 30-minute drive from the Gulf of Morrosquillo Airport (Tolú).
What is the route to get there by land?

There are several routes depending on your starting point, but you can check the directions on Waze

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is at 3 p.m. Check-out is at 1 p.m. (subject to change during peak season)

Can I request an early check-in or late check-out?

Early check-ins (early bird) or late check-outs are subject to availability and may incur an additional charge

Should children have to pay?

Children under 4 years of age are only charged the hotel insurance fee when sharing a room with their parents. Children 4 years of age and older pay the full rate and receive the same services as adults. 

Do you allow pets?

Pets are allowed on our premises during the off-season, provided they are not classified as “potentially dangerous” under the new police code and weigh less than 20 kilograms—subject to a cleaning fee and availability. We offer various types of accommodations, so we do not allow extra beds or cribs to be added to the rooms

Is smoking allowed in the rooms?

No, the hotel is smoke-free, in accordance with Law 1335 of 2009 and regulated by Resolution 624 of 2025, which prohibits smoking in all enclosed spaces (with a roof and walls) accessible to the public, extending the ban to aerosols from electronic cigarettes and vapers (vaping) and requiring mandatory signage, seeking to protect nonsmokers from exposure to secondhand smoke and promote public health, with penalties for noncompliance. Violating this regulation carries fines of up to one SMMLV.

About Our Services

Do the rates include breakfast?

Our rates do not include breakfast, but we can arrange meals through our partner restaurant. You can purchase them online during the booking process.

Does the hotel have a pool and/or a private beach?

The hotel features a pool and hot tub that are open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The beaches in Coveñas are public. We offer 24-hour direct access from our property, subject to the municipal government’s usage policies.

Does the hotel provide beach umbrellas?

Yes, the hotel has tents available at no charge.

Do I need to get a yellow fever vaccine to travel to Colombia?

A yellow fever vaccine is not required to enter Colombia's major cities. However, if you are a foreigner and plan to visit natural areas such as Tayrona National Park, the Sierra Nevada, the Amazon or jungle areas, you are required to present an international yellow fever vaccination certificate. This measure is intended to protect your health in high-risk areas and should not be a cause for concern. The vaccine is safe, valid for life, and it is recommended that you receive it at least 10 days before your trip. If you have questions about whether your itinerary includes any of these areas, we will be happy to assist you.

Is the water safe to drink?

The tap water in Coveñas is not safe for human consumption. At the Hotel Portoalegre, we have a water station with purified water available to all our guests.

Should I bring a power adapter?

In most cases, it is not necessary. The Portoalegre Hotel uses 110-volt power, which is compatible with most common electronic devices. However, if your device has a European or Asian plug, an adapter may be necessary.
